In a record time of 4 weeks, EMD has provided crucial support to a new client facing a production halt at their manufacturing plant by doubling the stamping tools.
Design and simulation had to be carried out in parallel, along with the manufacturing of 3 sets of high-precision dies, essential for the production of large structural parts (up to 1,500mm x 1,500mm), with a thickness of 1.5mm, featuring complex shapes with great depth and small radii.
The main goal was to ensure a production rate of 1,500 units per week from the 5th week onwards, which has helped prevent stoppages in the assembly line of a prominent European OEM.
The challenge lay in manufacturing stamping tools capable of producing between 10,000 and 100,000 parts in 4 weeks, which required extremely robust dies made of high-quality hardened iron.
Despite the difficulty of obtaining the material on time, EMD has exceeded expectations, having manufactured more than 15,000 parts per reference to date.
This achievement reflects the commitment and dedication of the entire EMD team, both internal and external, who have worked intensively to prevent production stoppages and ensure the continuity of production in the European automotive industry.
